Tornado Grants

Local county officials are working to receive federal help in tornado cleanup efforts. Jasper County Commissioners have applied for one-point-three million dollars in grants to help residents in Carl Junction. There are several areas of damage that have not been cleaned from the may tornadoes. At this morning`s county commission meeting, leaders signed the grant application.
"Just Jasper County has done about 35-thousand dollars worth of funds we have expended so far. We`re out of funds to do that, so we`re hoping that we can get some funds to help the folks,"said Chuck Surface, Jasper County Commissioner. Commissioners hope to hear back about the grant within the month.
