A Blackout in Joplin?

The blackout in the northeast caught everyone off-guard,but what would happen if similar events happened here in the four-states?
The blackout that shut down much of the Northeast is causing authorities across the nation to examine their own power grids. That includes Joplin,where two weeks ago some customers of the Empire District Electric Company experienced power outages. The Empire System is connected with others in the country. While that can cause problems Empire representatives say it also allow for more support.
Empire says all protection and recovery strategies are kept confidential.
