Hit and Run Investigation

Area police are on the lookout for a car and driver involved in a local hit-and-run accident. Police say the incident happened on Rouse Street in Pittsburg, Kansas. Officers say 16-year old Amber Span was crossing in the crosswalk when she was struck by a pick-up truck. The victim was treated for injuries at an area hospital, but police say the driver fled from the scene. The vehicle is described as a newer model Chevrolet extended-cab pick-up truck. The license was possible Kansas plates with the first three letters possibly being PKU. The driver was described as a white male, 50 to 60 years old, heavy set build and a balding hair line.
