Drought and Farmers

By: Import User
Updated: January 7, 2009
The high temperatures and low rainfall continue to wreak havoc across the four-states. And it`s hitting the farmers where it hurts. Some are able to spare their crops with irrigation systems. But that can certainly put some strain on the pocketbook. The farm services agency is currently assessing thirty-nine counties in Northern and Western Missouri for drought conditions. Reports will show the extent of drought damage and could make producers in those counties eligible to apply for low-interest loans. Once declared disaster areas, the loans can be used to restore or replace property, pay production costs, living expenses, and reorganize farming operations. Reported By: Janae Menz
