If your son or daughter has headed off to college for the first time, you may be experiencing empty nest syndrome. But there are ways to beat it. Many parents are suffering this fall after sending a child off to college. But therapists say there are ways to beat the pain.Dr. Karl Wendt says it`s usually the worst the first month or so after your child leaves. But that whenever you do talk to your child make sure you put on a good face for their sake. And Dr. Wendt took his own advice when he dropped his daughter off."Big hug oh we`ll see you in a couple weeks and that kind of thing and then I go home and then I cry. It was tucking my 13 year old in, say your prayers and then I walked past the empty room of my college age daughter and that`s when it hit me you know there is some sadness." In order to aleviate some of your pain Dr. Wendt suggests keeping busy for that first month or so. Reported By: Jennifer Grannan
