Coleman Verdict

A four state jury says former Sheriff`s Captain Tony Coleman is not guilty. Tony Coleman was accused of stealing money donated to the Salvation Army during last summer`s Route 66 Music Festival. The trial wrapped up with a not guilty verdict. After approximately three hours the jurors determined that Tony Coleman is not guilty of stealing money from the Salvation Army. The verdict caused former Captain Coleman to break down in tears. Closing arguments ended just after ten this morning. In the closing arguements this morning the prosecution argued that regardless of the discrepancy between the amount supposedly donated to the Salvation Army and what coleman eventually sent in. The 79 dollars that were eventually sent in should be considered stolen. Prosecuting Attornies say it`s theft because the money was kept in Coleman`s posession without the Salvation Army`s consent. The Prosecution also argued that Coleman couldn`t have forgotten about the money because he had received three reminders to send it in. But the defense didn`t agree. "And the basics were that there was never any evidence in this case that Tony ever took any money to begin with,"said Bill Fleischaker The Prosecution concluded by saying giving back after an investigation begins. As officials say Coleman did should not exonerate the accused. Again, former Sheriff`s Captain Tony Coleman was found not guilty of stealing money from the Salvation Army that was collected at last summer`s Route 66 Music Festival.
