Area county Commissioners are asking the federal government to help keep you safe. Newton County Commissioners spoke with Homeland Security officials and Governor Bob Holden today. Commissioners are asking for funds from the government to improve local emergency equipment. According to Commissioners funds are needed in several areas. "What we would be looking at on a practical level, we would be looking at emergency management our cdc and 911, our ambulance district, our hospitals, our law enforcement, to name a few,"said Jerry Carter, Newton County Commissioner.
The needs assessment form is due on December 31st.
