A Joplin man is in the hospital after his wife allegedly shoots him. The Joplin Police Department is currently investigating a shooting early this afternoon in Joplin. Investigators say an argument between the couple led to the shooting and now one woman is behind bars. 41-year old Sheryl Tharp has been arrested on charges of first degree assault for allegedly shooting her husband 38-year old John Tharp. The incident happened just before one-thirty this afternoon at this home at 3007 west fifteenth street in Joplin. Police were called to the scene after a report that a man had been shot. When they arrived on the scene they found three people in the house, one man had been shot in the foot with a black powder pistol. "The inital information we have is that the wife of the gentelman that was shot was holding the gun when it went off whether it was intentional or an accident we haven`t determined that yet,"said Commander Jim Hounschell. Investigators say the incident may have been some sort of domestic situation. The wife and another man who police say was called to the scene after the event were questioned and now Sheryl Tharp is in jail. Meanwhile John Tharp shot was taken to the hospital with moderate injuries. Reported By: Courtney Cullor
