Updated: January 7, 2009
Archie Dunn, who ran as an Independent in the special election Tuesday, won the race with more than 6-and-a-half thousand votes. Dunn defeats Republican Greg Dagnan, who pulled in nearly 4-thousand votes and Democrat J.D. Love, who captured more than 27-hundred votes. Dunn says his time as Interim Sheriff has prepared him for the road ahead. The special election Tuesday comes 10-weeks after former Sheriff Bill Pierce announced his retirement. Dunn says he plans to run again during regular elections in 2004. Dunn also says he plans to continue to make improvements and restructure the Sheriff`s Department. Reported By: Ryan Loyd
