A four state humane society is one step closer to expanding. A feasibility study is being conducted on the expansion of the Joplin Humane Society. The Shelter Planners of American are conducting the study to see how they can expand the center, and how much it will cost. Workers at the facility say they have outgrown the 50 year old building and are in need of room.
"We definitely need to be about twice the size we are now. So we need more kennels, more space. The more space that we have the longer we can hold animals which increases the chances of them being adopted,"said Wayne Cunningham, Shelter Manager. The new renovations are expected to cost around two-million dollars. The shelter is relying on the generous donations of residents. If you would like to donate call 623-3642.
