Four State students had a chance to get out of the classoom and study the history of miners. Joplin Elementary Gifted Students visited wildcat park and had a chance to explore a cave. They also studied geology and rock formations. The field trip also made a stop at the Joplin Mineral Museum to see how miners looked for lead. Students today say being a miner is a job they definitely would not want. "Lead in the old days would mine for it and it would make them a lot of money. Twelve cents a bucket what now isn`t that much,"said Danielle Doerr, third grader. More students will also get to go on the tour of the Joplin Mineral Museum on Thursday.
