Missouri Water Rates on the Rise

By: Import User
Updated: January 7, 2009
It may cost a little bit more to get a drink of water in Joplin. Talks are underway to renovate and expand the Joplin water treatment plant. The cost of the renovations would be 51-million dollars. The average customer currently pays 17-dollars a month for water. If the renovations are approved, your bill could rise to a little over 29-dollars by 2009. The expansion would allow 10-million additional gallons of water to be pumped a day. A public hearing on the rate hike proposal is set for November 12th at the Joplin Municipal building.
