Freeman Health System officially unveiled their new Air Medical Services this morning. The hospital is in a partnership with Eaglemed,a leading provider of critical care emergency air transport services based out of Wichita. The helicopters are referred to as "flying intensive care units".A helicopter is based at Freeman West,it`s one of seven air medical helicopters and four fixed wing aircraft in Eaglemed`s service area. Freeman Health Officials say the new partnership will allow faster, more dependable air service to a wider area of the region. "I think it allows us to answer multiple trauma victims, it allows us to go opposite directions, trauma, hearts and truly regional service,"said Gary Duncan,Freeman President. Each aircraft will feature a two-member medical team dedicated to each patient. If the situation warrants, an additional aircraft could be sent to a trauma situation. They will also allow for advanced trauma care including cardiac and pediatric emergencies as well as accidents. The Eaglemed services are already in use at Freeman.
