breaking news
An airplane crashes just after taking off from a four state airport. The crash happened this morning near the Lamar Municipal Airport with two people on board. Firefighters at the scene of the crash say the pilot claims the engine failed shortly after take off and he was unable to re-start it. The single engine plane bounced off of a neighboring building before crashing into the storage facility next door. The owner of the storage facility lives across the street and heard the crash. She says it sounded like a large dump truck dropping it`s bed. She was also the first to arrive on the scene and dialed 911. According to the owner of the plane who was not on the plane during the crash. The second man, bill ball was airlifted to a Joplin hospital with various injuries. Fortunately, the pilot, John Shomin received only five stitches in his hand. There still isn`t a definitive indication where the two were headed. Davis says aside from her concern for those involved in the crash she still has to worry about a fire breaking out in her storage facility. That`s because the plane is leaking gasoline. Firefighters are still on hand to spray a special foam in hopes of preventing a fire. And the owner of the plane is not concerned with the damage to his plane because it`s insured. He says he just wants to make sure both ball and shomin are all right. Of course the Federal Aviation administration will be investigating the crash.
