Six months after devastating tornados rip through the four states,area community members continue the struggle to return to normal. It`s been exactly six months since tornadoes swept through the four-states on Sunday May 4th. Area residents are still working to get back on track.
For school leaders in Carl Junction that means getting students back inside the school buildings. The school year was cut short for many students after the elementary and middle school buildings received extensive damage from the May 4th tornado. As of today,just the fifth grade classes remain in trailers outside which were set up while the classrooms were being rebuilt. School leaders say six months and six-point-two million dollars later students and teachers have come a long way. Cook says he`s pleased with the way the community has pulled together after the tornadoes. In addition to the damage to the school buildings,approximately 75 homes were completely destroyed as well as the police department in the tornado.
