Updated: January 7, 2009
And residents in Pierce City also continue to pick up the pieces from the may tornadoes. Six months later, the community is still in the reconstruction phase. City leaders say construction is almost complete on the local hardware store and the rebuilding of city hall should begin in February. Many homes were damaged by the tornado in Pierce City, but the downtown area of the town was hit the hardest with almost every building being completely destroyed. Mayor Mark Peters says in six months residents have been able to slowly rebuild and put their lives back in order. But many residents who witnessed the tornado say it feels like that horrible day was just yesterday. A bank, a convenience store, a restaurant and a feed store have all been rebuilt in Pierce City following the tornado. Reported By: Brad Douglas
