Ottawa County Courthouse

By: Import User
Updated: January 7, 2009
Its back to square one for county commissioners after voters turn down a sales tax issue. Residents in Ottawa County Oklahoma said no to a four-tenths of a cent sales tax yesterday. The tax revenue would have provided funding to build a new six point five million dollar courthouse. The current courthouse in Miami was built in 1916 and is in need of repair. However voters gave their approval to a one tenth cent sales tax. Money from the tax will generate about 20 thousand dollars a year for each of the nine fire departments in Ottawa county.
