An area man is dead, and his wife is downgraded to critical condition after being hit by a car just before the Joplin Christmas parade. 87-year old Herbert Siskowski died overnight at a Joplin hospital. His wife, Betty Siskowski, has been downgraded from serious to critical condition. The couple was involved in an accident last night just before the Joplin Christmas parade was set to begin. Police say a North-bound vehicle driven by 17-year old Shawn Horner struck the couple as they were crossing the street at the intersection of Main and 17th. Horner told police the accident happened when he reached for a glove. He says when he looked up, he had already hit the couple. Police say that at this time, no charges have been filed.
