Galena Trash Truck

Updated: January 7, 2009
After weeks of discussion the city of Galena is the proud owner of a new trash truck. According to City Commissioners the old trash truck has seen better days and it was time for a change. Mayor Lynne Hardman says the old truck was basically being held together with chewing gum and baling wire. The new 1999 GMC trash truck was purchased off the internet for approximately 38-thousand dollars less than a new truck would cost. "It was considerable cheaper than a brand new truck and this is basically a new truck. Everything that`s been needed fixed has been fixed and as you can see it`s in as good of shape as a new truck,"said City Manager Jamie Bell. According to Bell the city`s new trash truck is still under warranty as well. Reported By: Jennifer Grannan
