Road Conditions

By: Import User
Updated: January 7, 2009
Road crews have worked through the night and all day today to clear area roads. People who`ve been driving through joplin say the main roads are in pretty good shape. Drivers say it`s the residential neighborhoods and side streets where you may run into trouble. And officials with Joplin Public Works say they`re doing their best to keep the roads clear. "Getting the snow and ice off, that`s our biggest challenge, that`s our number one goal. That`s why we plowed and put chemicals down at the same time. The sun`s really letting it moderate and you can see where the chemical`s been,"said Wilber Gatlin, Joplin Public Works. Gatlin estimates the streets of Joplin should be almost back to normal by tomorrow morning. Of course, in smaller towns and residential areas,it could be some time before all is clear.
