Mayor Listed as Individual in City Suit

A former Columbus, Kansas mayor will be included as an individual rather than a city leader in a lawsuit with former employees. Former police Chief Danny Clark and former City Clerk Kim Richards are listing Bill Schaiff as an individual defendent rather than the former Mayor in their case against Schaiff and the city. Clark and Richards say Schaiff violated their civil rights when he fired them in June of 2002. The plaintiffs are asking for more than 75 thousand dollars each in damages and fees. Schaiff`s attorney and the attorney for the city say the allegations are false. No date has been set for a trial. Reported by: Sheradee Hurst
