Nick King

Updated: April 3, 2013
Nick joins KODE as the Weekend Sports Anchor/Reporter. A 2010 graduate of The University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill's School of Journalism and Mass Communication, this is his first experience west of the Mississippi since moving from California before his first birthday. Make no mistake - he's thrilled about that - especially after seeing how impressive and amazingly upbeat Joplin residents are.

Nick's entire life has revolved around sports in some fashion, and after his dreams of playing professionally were not realized, he decided journalism would be the best way to stay immersed in the games. Quickly, it was the hidden stories of the sports world that struck a chord. As Ed Sabol of NFL films likes to say, "Tell me a fact, and I'll learn. Tell me the truth, and I believe. But tell me a story, and it will live in my heart forever."

When not working, you will most likely find Nick on the basketball court, hacking his way around a golf course or simply watching a game. He loves reading, watching movies (especially trilogies) and documentaries, experimenting in the kitchen, the Carlton dance, and karaoke. Nick also volunteers at the Ozark Center for Autism and as a Big Brother in the Big Brothers/Big Sisters program.
