Updated: January 7, 2009
One four state airport is undergoing some rennovations due to FAA requirements. Runway 321 at the Pittsburg Airport is set to undergo reconstruction with a cost of 2.1 million dollars. According to the FAA, the new runway needs to be constructed with at least the dimensions of 60 by 3400 feet. The current runway is a bit larger and is 75 by 4000 feet and will cost more to keep the dimensions,so commerical planes can land there. "We`ve been put on notice that the runway has a sight problem basically planes that are on one end of the runway cannont see if there is a plane waiting to take off at the other end. It`s considered somewhat of a hazardous conditions by faa standards we need to rectify that situation,"said Bill Beasley, Pittsburg Public Works Director. A construction firm is being contracted and the new runway should be done by 2005. Reported By: Brad Douglas
