Filing Deadlines

Today is the last day to file for a seat on the Joplin City Council. So far eight people have filed for the position. Vesta Grindstaff, John Thurman, Carolyn Ragan, Richard Russell, Guy Palmieri, Jim West and Bob Harrington all have filed. As of newstime, John Phillips has not yet been certified. The deadline to file for the position was at 5 p.m. today. The positions available are for zone two, zone three and two positions for general council member. Today was also the last day to file for the Joplin R-8 school board. There are seven total positions and two of those are open. So far Mike D. Landis, Ron Gatz, Jim Coburn and Kurtis Squire have all filed. Landis and Gatz are both incumbants.
