Human bones discovered beneath an old house in Mount Vernon last December did not yield the DNA information authorities had hoped might lead to an identification. The Lawrence County Sheriff`s Office has now sent more bones to a St. Louis genetics lab for further testing. Sheriff Doug Seneker says the new test would be more expensive, but produces better results. The Sheriff says the first sample sent to the lab likely had been damaged by sun and rain after sitting on someone`s back porch for months. Investigators had been hoping DNA information might prove useful in the investigation of cases involving women who have disappeared in Southwest Missouri.
