Updated: January 7, 2009
A new police chief is forced to fire one of his new employees. According to Galena City Manager, Jamie Bell one of the new officers has been fired. Bell says a background check was run on the officer, but nothing was reported. The officer had been working for the city for nearly two weeks when he was pulled over while off duty. That`s when a check of his record revealed he was driving with a suspended license. While Bell refused to comment on camera he does say a background check was run. However, other law enforcement officials told us today a suspended license would have appeared in a background check. Reported By: Jennifer Grannan
