A historic town goes back to its roots to show people its role in America`s past. Visitors toured the Fort Scott National Historic site this weekend to see the annual Civil War encampment. Staff members offered plenty of activities and demonstrations of the life and times of those who lived in the Civil War time period. They say an event like this makes history jump out of the books. Park Ranger Galen Ewing says "It provides the public a good oppurtunity to come in and re-live history, you might say, as opposed to learning it just in school." Guest speakers, cavalry drills and artillery demonstrations wrapped things up today at the site.
