Updated: January 7, 2009
A judge makes a decision about whether two four state women will go to trial on day three of the hearing. Birdie Jo and Becky Jo Hoaks were in court today for the conclusion of their preliminary hearing in Cherokee County. Judge Bill Lyerla has bound both sisters over for trial. If you`ll remember Birdie Jo and Becky Jo are accused of scamming the Galena School District when Birdie Jo allegedly posed as the 13-year-old boy, Chris Gomez. Birdie Jo will go to trial on three different counts. The first is a false writing felony count in relation to a Galena School District student enrollment form and a parent survey. The second is also a false writing felony count for a dental screening and limited english survey. Birdie Jo is also being charged with a felony count for theft of services as a result of her enrollment in the Galena schools. Becky Jo is facing three felony counts as well. Hers are for aiding and abetting on the same counts as Birdie Jo.Because Judge Lyerla bound the sisters over for trail. They`ll be back in court again next month for their arraignment. If they are found guilty the sisters will be facing anywhere from 11 to 34 months in jail for each offense. Reported By: Jennifer Grannan
