ADT Recalls Carbon Monoxide Detectors

By: Shannon Bruffett
Updated: October 25, 2011
ADT Recalls about 20,000 Carbon Monoxide Detectors. Some of the detectors were not wired properly to the ADT alarm system, resulting in the sound not going off in the home alarm panel and no signal to the ADT alarm monitoring center at the end of its useful life.
Not replacing a CO detector at the end its useful life poses a CO poisoning hazard to consumers.
This recall involves hard-wired carbon monoxide detectors with model CO 1224T installed by ADT.
The model number is behind the front cover.
They were Installed by ADT between October 2008 and December 2010 as part of home security systems.
Consumers should contact ADT immediately for a free inspection of the recalled detectors and, if necessary, a free repair. Consumers should not attempt to disable the recalled detectors.
For additional information, contact ADT toll-free at (800) 238-2727 between 8 a.m. and 10 p.m. ET Monday through Friday or visit the company's website at www.us.adt.com
