Joplin Schools Need Volunteers

By: Import User
Updated: January 7, 2009
Joplin schools are needing volunteers to make sure the district keeps its accreditation. Joplin R-8 officials say student test scores within the Joplin School District are not good. The district has two testing periods left before a re-accreditation review. If scores are where they stand today, officials say the district will lose accreditation. The R-8 School District is asking for help from the community. They are needing at least 200 people who are willing to give one hour a week coaching a student who has fallen critically behind. The areas that will be targeted are math and reading. If you are willing to help, call Melinda Bayless at the chamber. The number is 624-4150.
