Wireless Portability

Updated: January 7, 2009
Imagine ditching your home phone and just relying on your cell phone. It`s becoming more common, and it just got a bit easier for you to do. You can get practically any ringtone you want on your cell phone, and now you can get any number you want. The major cell phone companies have teamed up for what is called wireless number portability. Which means you can transfer an existing cell phone number to another. "We have people who have been on a waiting list to come and on this day and week to get their phones changed over," said Jeff Welborn, Wireless Connections. But before you change your number, there are a few additional things to know. A new service provider requires a new phone. And the new service doesn`t cover long distance moves. For instance a Joplin phone number won`t work if you live in Florida. If you have any questions you`re advised to call your local cell phone dealer. Reported By: Brad Douglas
