Updated: January 7, 2009
A local Senator makes a stop in Southwest Missouri to promote a multi-billion dollars highway bill. Senator Kit Bond was at the Missouri Highway Patrol Field Office talking to troopers about the dangers of Missouri roadways. He is endorsing a new federal highway bill which would provide 318 billion dollars to roadways nationwide. Missouri would receive one-point-four billion in funding to improve roads and create 69,000 thousand jobs for the state. The timing is important for it to pass since the construction season is almost gone. "We`ve only got three months left. So I`m working hard. I haven`t given up the faith. We`re going to get a good highway bill for Missouri and I hope we get it this year," says Bond. The bill is now going to a House-Senate conference where a finald bill will be negotiated for the President to sign. Reported By: Brad Douglas
