Fierro Report

The investigation is complete and the information released in the death of a Carthage firefighter. Local firefighters say the report does not contain any surprises. Niosh, the organization that conducted the investigation says initial coroner reports are correct. An independent toxicology report listed Steve Fierro`s carbon monoxide level at 51 percent, which indicates he died of smoke inhalation. Niosh also made several recommendations to fire departments in order to avoid similar accidents from happening in the future. Fierro died while fighting a fire in Diamond in February.
