By: Import User
Updated: January 7, 2009
A Joplin-based trucking company is involved in two accidents involving hazardous materials. A tractor trailer, belonging to Joplins Tri State Motor Transit, slid off interstate 70 near Middletown Maryland this morning. The truck was hauling navy missiles. The missiles did not spill from the truck, but patrol officers were forced to shut down the interstate and evacuate the area. The driver and a passenger only suffered minor injuries. Last night another Tri- State tractor trailer was involved in an accident. In West Virginia, a truck carrying 42,000 pounds of military explosive powder overturned. Patrol officers closed the highway and evacuated residents. A shelter was even set up for those who couldn`t go home.
