JASPER COUNTY, MO -- Plans to finalize repairs for the Jasper County Jail turns into a heated argument at Tuesday's commissioners meeting.

Frank Winkler presented recommendations from the Sheriff's Office Advisory Panel about how to improve the jail.

This sparked the debate between the commissioners and members of the panel.

Winkler says the panel strongly disagrees with the commissioners decision to work with Cornerstone Detention Products.

He says another company could do the job for half the price.

While commissioners say they have done their homework and went with the best option

"I've done a lot of footwork on this thing for the last five months," Jasper County Presiding Commissioner John Bartosh says.

"It's fair to say I'm fairly disappointed and I'm sure the other panel members will be disappointed as well, but it is what it is and it's the commissioners right which they executed," Frank Winkler, Sheriff Office Advisory Panel member says.

Commissioners moved to continue working with Cornerstone.

The company will begin work soon.
