JOPLIN, MO -- A Texas-based non-profit aims to help businesses stay up and running after weather disasters.

"Information Technology Disaster Resource Center" held a preparedness seminar at the Joplin library today.

Directors spoke to business owners about protecting vital company information through technology.

That includes backing up files on multiple hardrives or USBs.

Experts say half of businesses affected in disasters close after one-year because of lost information.

They want to help avoid that trend in Joplin.

"Anybody who spends sometime thinking about this, making arrangements for a disaster are going to recover quicker in disaster and limit out of pocket loss," says direcor Joe Hillis.
