JOPLIN, MO -- The Joplin R-8 school district puts a house destroyed by the May 22nd storm to educational use.

The school district purchased the property on Illinois and 20th Street.

They are moving it out of the way and out of the flood plane which sits under the Joplin High School.

Now the Construction Trade Program is using the home to fine-tune their skills.

Eleventh and 12th graders will work on the sighting, electrical plumbing, and place brick on the exterior of the 1,700 square foot home.

School officials say its a great way to get hands-on experience.

"it's really working out well for us," Franklin Technology Director Dave Rockers says.

When the students are done fixing up the home, they will put it up on the market to be sold.

The profits will go back to the Franklin Technology Center.
