JOPLIN, MO.-- An area organization is giving hope to victims of abuse.

The organization "Breathe Hope" is part of Ignite Church in Joplin.

The group focuses on reaching women who are victims of physical and sexual abuse.

The non profit held an open house this afternoon to teach women about the resources available to them.

Employees from the Lafayette House and Freeman Health System spoke at the event.

The goal is to help women find a way to overcome a tough situation.

Breathe Hope Co-Founder Nancy Hutson says,

"I'm a survivor of sexual abuse and sometimes it's very difficult to feel comfortable with certain things.  It's very difficult to be able to know where do I need to go and what do I need to do."

Breathe Hope directors are also in the process of finding a shelter to house women who are victims of abuse.
