ROTC Enrollment Increasing

Updated: January 7, 2009
Joplin High School is prepping students for a service career. Service in the military, that is. The ROTC program at Joplin High is one of the oldest in the country, getting its start back in 1918. Today, there are between 100 and 130 students learning about the military. Many of these students go on to join the Armed Forces. Since the September 11th attacks, more and more young people are enlisting. ROTC prepares these young people for service. Students learn military history in the classrooms and go outside for drills and exercises.
