Storm Siren Testing

JOPLIN,MO--- The testing for both the 5th and 6th is part of the upgrade of our storm sirens to allow for silent testing of the sirens as approved by the City Council in February of this year. Once completed, sirens will only be tested in the normal audible fashion on the first Monday of each month.
No critical weather is forecast at this time, so please note that the sounding of the sirens in Joplin is a step in the testing process.
The Emergency Management division has also added two new sirens to the City, bringing the total number of warning sirens to 27. New sirens are being installed in Wildcat Park and McClelland Park to provide appropriate warning to the citizens who frequent these parks and nearby walking trails.
