DIAMOND, MO.--- Crews were called out to a field fire on Highway 59 in Diamond between Aspen and Beach roads. An elderly woman was taken to a neighboring hospital because she was having trouble breathing. There were no other injuries. Most of the burning happened in a field South of Body's towing where a shed and about 60 bales of hay burned. Mike Judd with the Diamond Fire Department says help from 5 departments was very instrumental in preventing theses flames from spreading.

"If we hadn't had the mutual aid that we had we would be in some serious trouble. We would have lost several structures. So mutual aid is key, all you have to do is get on that radio and say help and the guys will come," states Mike Judd, Diamond Fire Department.

To keep firefighters healthy while working in the heat, the Newton County Ambulance District bought a mobile rehab center they can rotate through to cool off and hydrate.
