ORONOGO, MO.--- It's a good time to be growing grapes. Just ask Evr Langan. He owns the Keltoi Winery in Oronogo, and he says this heat actually makes the grapes taste better.

"The more natural sugar that the grapes produce the better that wine should be," states Langan.

When the vines are stressed, the plant goes into survival mode and releases more sugar and more sugar equals better tasting wine. Andrew Pennington is the head wine make and he says this years crop is awesome.

"A stressed vine is going to make the best wine. You get that sugar levels up there get all the natural sugar in your wine. Gives you a full body wine," states Pennington.

This machine replaces having to use your feet. It strips the vine and then collects the grape in the bottom. They have 6 acres on the vineyard and they are picking the grapes 2 weeks early since they're so ripe. The grapes they pick today won't be ready to drink until September of 2013. You have to pick them at just the right time.

"What we have to watch out that the grapes turn into raisins," states Pennington.

Erv opened the winery 11 years ago after working in education for years. He says there are perks to working with grapes.

"The grapes don't complain."
