CARTHAGE, MO.--- Lt. Bill Barksdale has been named the winner of the Mustache May Competition. Officers with the Carthage Police Department each put $10 into a pot at the beginning of May. The officers then shaved and whoever grew the best mustache by the end of the month won. The Dugout Sports Shop in Webb City printed up the contest T-shirts and chose the winner. Barksdayle isn't sure why he won, but is happy none the less.

"I really don't know. Mine has been known as elegance. They have names for several of their mustaches. I guess having grey in it gave it a little seniority," states Lt. Bill Barksdale, Mustache Winner.

Barksdale's mustache won him $150. He donated the winning to the Special Olympics.
