JOPLIN, MO.--- Joplin Parks and Recreations unveiled the plans for the new Schifferdecker pool during the council's informal meeting. Water's Edge Aquatic Design presented sketches for the pool's new aquatic center. City council members voted unanimously in favor of the plans including rock removal, raising the pool, and creating the new pool deeper than the existing one.

"It's just another sign of the progression of Joplin. Since I've been here, everybody's told me that everybody's moniker and logos are that 'we are the center of the Four States', and now, we truly are," states Chris Cotten, Parks and Recreations Director.

The next step after tonight's approval will be to start accepting bids from contractors on the pool project.
