JOPLIN, MO-- "Kind of incorporates the mind/body/spirit aspect of healthcare and really tending to the needs of that because the psyche can play a huge role on a woman and her life and how that affects her own personal health maintenance." And Freeman Certified Nurse Midwife Abby Mutic says that decision can have a big impact on both pregnancy and delivery, starting with whether or not the patient chooses to use medication during the birth process. "Hopefully to assist them in different techniques to assist their methods and help them cope with pain in labor."

At Freeman, the midwives are all trained as nurses and certified. It helps to make them familiar with different options like when to use hydrotherapy. Mutic added  "Our jacuzzis that assists women with coping with their pain, women that choose to move more freely in labor and have a mindset to less interventions, less pain medication usually have less C section rates as well."
