KSN Policy on Covering Anthrax Scares

By: Import User
Updated: January 7, 2009
Our Four State region, as well as the rest of the nation, has become nearly possessed with concerns about anthrax and other biological weapons. In fact, it`s gotten to the point that virtually every unexplained package or envelope from an unknown sender prompts the closing of some public facility. Those of us associated with Your Hometown News want to do the best job we can for you, without causing our viewers any sense of panic. It`s in light of both those facts, that we`ve decided not to televise stories about every suspicious package, envelope or substance until we can confirm that it`s in your best interest. Like yelling fire in a crowded theater when it`s not true, we want to avoid doing harm. We will examine every such report, but we`re just not going to air them until we can confirm their validity. We strive to earn your trust and confidence every day.
