FORT SCOTT, KS --  A Fort Scott Animal Shelter is in dire need of help caring for dozens of animals.

Lee's Paws and Claws Animal Shelter is a grass-roots organization run solely on volunteers and donations.

Various Fort Scott businesses donate money to keep it running.

Directors are taking care of 18 dogs and 17 cats basically by themselves.

They're asking for your help to keep the shelter running efficiently.

They need help walking dogs, playing with cats, cleaning the shelter and other chores.

"We want the animals well socialized so tht they are all adoptable and we also need a clean environment for them," says director Anne-Gilmore Hoffman.
