JOPLIN, MO.--- Joplin schools will get nearly 11 million dollars from FEMA to help in the rebuilding process. This grant money will go toward building East Elementary and a middle school. Senator Claire Mcaskill announced the grant money yesterday. The Joplin Schools Chief Financial Officers estimates FEMA will end up giving a total of 57-million dollars to help the district rebuild.

"We planned on these monies coming in, in this manner with the bond issue. We're feeling pretty good about our bond plan and what we're seeing develop here with these announcements," states Paul Barr, Chief Financial Officers.

The entire building project to rebuild all the schools is 185 million dollars. Money will come from several different sources including a 62-million dollar bond approved by voters in April of this year.
