JOPLIN, MO.--- Roary the Lion is the new name of the Missouri Southern State University Mascot. He also has a brand new suit. An online poll was held on the MSSU website. More than a thousand people cast their vote, but roary won by 60 votes. In his 75 year history, the lion never had an official name.

"Leo was the second place. We had Larry, Luke, Lenny. A lot of "l's" and working on that alteration. Roary got it," states Aaron Lewis, MSSU Athletics.

Also at the celebration, Ruth Stamper and Trenten Henderson were named the 75th anniversary homecoming queen and king.
