JOPLIN, MO.--- This is the temporary home for Missouri Southern State University's Kappa Sigma students.

"It was freezing cold last night, about four o'clock everybody was bundled up together," states Morgan Ferguson, Kappa Sigma Member.

The great box build puts these fraternity men in the shoes of those who are homeless. They camped out on campus last night and will again tonight.

"It just represents homeless, you know they sleep in boxes they sleep outside in the weather," states Ferguson.

The cold weather challenges these guys to understand what homeless people go through.

"About 3:00 am it got really cold. I had about three hoodies on and a blanket. Sleeping got really cold too. I kept waking up," states Jerrich Williams, Kappa Sigma Member.

This is the fourth year the fraternity is camping out for 48 hours. Their goal is to raise more than 15,000 dollars in donations and nonperishable items to donate to Watered Gardens.

"That box is full of canned goods, clothing, and blankets," states Williams.

The sight of nearly 400 boxes attract people to the cause.

"They see us out here in the box and they're really confused about what's going on, so that's what brings the attraction for people to come out here," states Ferguson.

Randa Bartlett was one of those people who stopped by.

"I thought it was crazy seeing all these boxes, so I was like, ok what are they doing, let me just check it out," states Randa Bartlett, MSSU Student.

Bartlett plans to donate after hearing about the cause.

"Now that I know they're here I was going to go find the ATM myself and go I got to go put some money in their bucket," states Bartlett.

The students will continue to camp out until tomorrow morning, then, they will take all the donations to Watered Gardens.
